Domestic Violence Awareness Month

In the United States, 20 people are physically abused every minute at the hands of an intimate partner. Domestic Violence Awareness Month is a time to spread awareness about the gravity of the effects of domestic violence in our communities.
EVENTS – New Horizons will be holding events this October to raise awareness and start conversations about this issue.
October 1st 10 am – Kicking off the month, La Crosse Mayor, Mitch Reynolds, will be giving a proclamation at the New Horizons La Crosse Outreach Center at 1223 Main Street La Crosse, WI at 10 am. Community members are encouraged to attend to show their support for ending domestic violence.
October 5th 5 pm – Community members can attend a gathering and awareness walk starting at Cameron Park at 5 pm on Tuesday. After a short program, there will be a peaceful walk through Downtown La Crosse. This is a family friendly event that will include games and light refreshments.
VOLUNTEER – Volunteers will also be needed during the month to help with our programs.
Friday September 17th 2 pm to 4 pm – Clothesline Project – Design t-shirts for the DVAM clothesline and assemble purple ribbon pins.
Thursday September 30th 1 pm to 4 pm – Purple Ribbon Set Up – Hang up purple ribbons on Main Street. Start at the La Crosse Outreach Center at 1223 Main Street La Crosse, WI.
October 5th 4 pm to 6 pm (Event starts at 5 pm) – Domestic Violence Awareness Walk and Gathering Assistance
Monday November 1st 9 am to 11 am – Purple Ribbon Take Down – Take down purple ribbons on Main Street. Start at the La Crosse Outreach Center at 1223 Main Street La Crosse, WI.
