Annual Meeting
January 24, 2012 marked our review of organizational accomplishments for 2011 which included a facelift to our quarterly newsletter (The Empowerment Press), successful Horizon Ride – Cruisin’ to end the Bruisin’ where over $7,000 was raised and acceptance as a Sexual Assault Service Provider organization by the Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Hardships for the year included loss of a portion of grant monies for our Trempealeau County Sexual Assault Program and all grant monies for our Trauma Specialist program. We are committed to providing services to those seeking the assistance of these two programs and do not anticipate a change in provision. The safety of those we serve is the foundation of our program and we are extremely thankful to you for the support of our mission.

We had a blast at Gala Viola again this year! The festive mood was set with delicious food and beautiful art at the Pump House. The Three Boomer Broads performed “Highlights Aren’t Just for the Beauty Shoppe,” a show that featured stories shared in their previous productions about growing up in the 50s and 60s.  It was indeed a night of laughter, reminiscence, and celebration!

Gala Viola
Our clearly waning glamour got a boost and our funny bones got a tickle at the Pump House on April 8, 2010 during Gala Viola. New Horizons welcomed Sheila Norgate from Vancouver, Canada to perform “Charm, Beauty and Poise: timeless tips for girls who have let themselves go,” a satirical look at etiquette tips collected from the 1920’s through the 1970’s. Sheila used her witty sense of humor and a feminist perspective to explore how women have been told how to be and act through the decades. A delightful, yet thought provoking performance!

Gala Viola would not have been a success without our generous sponsors and silent auction donors. Thank you all so much for helping to make the evening very special and for supporting the mission of New Horizons. We could not do the work we do without the generosity of this community!

Annual Meeting
February 19th, 2009, this year we are celebrating "Bridging The Gap: Serving The Community We Live In." We are really trying to grow as an agency and collaborate with agencies in the communities to better serve the people we work with. As we grow as an agency, we continue to strive to build collaborations with fellow service providers to aide those we work with.  We were pleased to have guest speakers from Coulee Council on Addictions, La Crosse Police Department, HMAA, Franciscan Skemp Medical Center and Stepping Stones.  Domestic violence touches the lives of many of those served by these agencies.  Thus the importance of bridging the gap! A fond farewell and a huge Thank You was given to board members whose terms were complete and a smiling welcome was given to our new board members.  A special thank you to Franciscan Skemp Healthcare for the donation of room and cuisine.

Thank you to everyone who attended the celebration and closing out of 2008 and the kick off of 2009!
