April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month

In honor of Denim Day, which is Wednesday, April 26th, New Horizons is holding an essay contest where two students can each win a $500 Scholarship toward their education.

Below are the full details of this opportunity for high school seniors in La Crosse and Trempealeau Counties. Share this with any high school seniors in the area that you know!

  • Amount: 2 scholarships of $500 each
  • Eligibility: High School Seniors in La Crosse and Trempealeau County Schools
  • Length Requirement: 500-750 words or a 3 to 4 minute video
  • Deadline: May 1, 2023 11:59 PM

Requirements

Scholarship will be awarded to one student contingent upon successful completion of one semester at a higher education institution. Check will be paid directly to that institution.

April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. As we work to end violence through awareness and education, please explain how victim-blaming, in the context of sexual assault, affects your community, and what can be done to address victim-blaming and change the way sexual assault is perceived in your community. When writing your essay or creating your video, be mindful of all forms of sexual abuse and violence present in our communities and whom it impacts.
