Partner With us for DVAM

Every October, communities across the country come together to raise awareness and stand in solidarity with survivors of domestic violence. We’re inviting local businesses, organizations, and individuals to join us in turning awareness into action. Below are two powerful ways to get involved in our 2025 DVAM campaign.

The Clothesline Project: Voices on Display

Each shirt tells a story. Some of grief. Some of hope. All of them demand to be seen.

The Clothesline Project began in 1990 in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, as a way to bear witness to the personal impact of domestic violence. Survivors, or those close to the, decorate t-shirts that are then hung on a clothesline for public display. Each shirt represents a person’s experience and becomes part of a collective voice that is impossible to ignore. The project transforms private pain into public testimony, creating space for healing, solidarity, and advocacy.

This October, New Horizons staff will be decorating shirts and displaying them throughout the community to raise awareness and honor the strength of survivors.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Donate plain white t-shirts to be used in the project
  • Host a clothesline display in your business, office, or community space (we will provide the decorated shirts to be displayed along with information on our resources)

Your support helps amplify survivor voices and educates the public.

#1Thing Pledge Ribbon Campaign

What’s your #1Thing?

Change happens one action at a time. The #1Thing campaign reminds us that if each of us commits to just one small action – whether it’s learning more about domestic violence, speaking up, or supporting someone in need – we can build safer, healthier communities.

This October, we’re launching our first-ever #1Thing Pledge Ribbon Campaign, and we’re looking for local partners to join us.

It’s easy to participate, and every dollar raised supports survivors right here in our community.

We provide everything you need:

  • Purple pledge ribbons for customers to purchase
  • Signage and display materials
  • A return envelope for donations

How it works:

  • At checkout, invite customers to support survivors by purchasing a pledge ribbon.
  • Supporters write their name and #1Thing they pledge to do to help end domestic violence.
  • You display the completed ribbons throughout October on a wall, window, or bulletin board.
  • Share photos (if able) on social media and tag @NewHorizons to help spread awareness and show your community support.
  • At the end of the month, we’ll collect donations and remaining materials.
